Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The robust menu garners high praise, especially the traditional Sunday roast, known for large portions and perfectly cooked vegetables. Diners rave about the variety of tapas, including the North Shields Potted Crab and Gambas Pil Pil, ideal for sharing. The drink menu, especially the extensive wine and beer selection, often impresses those who appreciate quality pairings with their meals. Another highlight includes the attentive service, with staff noted for being friendly and accommodating. Many love the cosy corners of the pub, perfect for group gatherings and family lunches. Outdoor seating allows patrons to soak up the sun while enjoying great food. Customer loyalty is a recurring theme, with many eager to return each week for their favorite dishes.

Most Disliked

Some guests express a desire for additional grab rails in the women's restroom to improve accessibility. During peak hours, especially Sunday afternoons, wait times can increase, which can be frustrating for those eager for their meals. A few diners note the occasional lack of variety in daily specials. When busy, the noise levels can rise, potentially detracting from a relaxed dining experience. A limited number of high chairs may pose an issue for larger families visiting at the same time. While outdoor seating is a plus, some customers hope for more shaded areas on sunny days. These minor drawbacks are often outweighed by the overall positive experience, but they are worth considering for future enhancements.

Would 100% recommend this place to anyone. I got a Thai green chicken curry pie and it was to die for! My partner got a burger and chips and she also said it was very very good.

A great British pub with an extensive and appealing menu.. great service, atmosphere, decor and cosy log burner corner. We had a family lunch and it was some of the best food we've had in ages! Spoilt for choice on what you actually order.. ended up choosing the homemade shepherd's pie, fresh vegetables... it didn't disappoint! We will definitely be back... 👍 Sunday lunch looks good.. maybe that'll be our next visit. Outside seating and car park too !! 🥰

We tried this pub for the first time on Sunday 5th October. The service was excellent, as was the food, we both had the traditional Sunday roast, one chicken the other pork. They were both excellent, and lots of it. Also, the veg was not overcooked, as is sometimes the case in pubs, it was just right. We'll definitely be going again! Iain.

We absolutely love going here on a Sunday for their roast - it's our favourite place. The manager is so lovely, she really remembers her customers and makes an effort to chat even when busy. We go nearly every Sunday!

Popped in on the off chance for a table for four on a Sunday afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very attentive, polite, friendly and professional. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it! Two of us had the roast beef, one pork and one chicken. Plenty of fresh veggies and lots of meat. The two men also managed the Apple & rhubarb crumble with lashings of hot custard which they also thoroughly enjoyed! If I had to force myself to be picky and say something negative… it would be helpful if the larger ladies toilet had some grab rails fitted as disabled ladies would definitely find this helpful. The ladies comfort basket in the loo was a very nice, thoughtful touch.

As a result of attending the quiz held at the pub on a Monday evening we won a voucher for three tapas and a bottle of wine donated by the pub. When we used the voucher the food was brilliant and the staff friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to try more of the tapas selection. By the way if you're interested the quiz starts at 20:00 and it's £1 per person to enter.
